First Time Central Heating Grants
There are First Time Central Heating Grants available for installing central heating systems. In new homes that have never had a central heating system before.
The new central heating system needs to install to be eligible for the ECO Scheme for the first time. Central heating grants must provide space heating through a boiler.
The applicant should also receive one of the qualifying State Benefits, Tax Credits. Or Other Allowances unless they qualify under the ECO Flex Rules.

Qualifying Criteria for First-Time Central Heating Grants
You must be a homeowner or be renting a home, and you must be 18 or older.
First-time central heating grants are unavailable to homeowners. Who rent their homes from a local council. Or a housing association and those who own their homes as part of a shared ownership scheme.
1. Either you don’t have any heating at all, or you have one of the following heating systems in your home
The use of electric room heaters, including direct-acting heaters, and fan heaters. Or inefficient electric storage heaters can be hazardous to health
- Gas room heaters; including gas room heaters with fixed mains connections
- Gas fire with a back boiler for heat generation
- Solid fossil fuel fire with a back boiler for the combustion of fossil fuels
- Electric underfloor or ceiling heating
- Heating of rooms with bottled LPG
- Room heaters using fossil fuels
- Wood/biomass room heaters
- Oil room heaters
