That may seem far-fetched, to say the least, but it is not far from the truth. No, you can’t get some free money to take a holiday or buy a sauna for your home.
But you CAN very probably get some money to pay for a new heating system for your home or to upgrade the insulation. No doubt you know that the government plan is to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for the whole of the UK by 2050, and it has several plans in the pipeline.
Not the least of these is a free insulation grant for low-income families in Liverpool. It is fair to say that the majority of homes today do not have insulation which is up to the required standards. Indeed, some have no insulation at all. What that means is that when the colder weather comes and you turn on the heating, which you obviously do, a large percentage of that heat will escape through the walls, roof, and even floors of your home.
In turn, that means that however much you spent on that escaped heat is just like throwing money down the drain. According to USave.co.uk, the average electricity bill for a 3-bed home is just short of £1,200 a year. If £1,000 of that is for heating and the heat loss is 40%, that means that you are throwing away £400 a year!
This is why the government is offering an energy efficient insulation grant in Liverpool to all families who qualify. So, in the above example, if you install proper insulation, your energy bills will go down by £400 a year! Who wouldn’t want some of that?
